Rain Fails to Spoil Ground Breaking Ceremony
Despite persistent rainfall children, teachers and governors of Sissinghurst Church of England Primary School bravely joined representatives from KCC, the Diocesan Board of Education and Jenner to celebrate the commencement of construction work on the new primary school.
The £4.25m scheme comprises five classrooms, a science room, IT suite, library and hall together with a kitchen and other staff and ancillary areas. Also attached to the main school is a nursery facility which is due to be completed at the same time as the main contract. The project incorporates extensive external works comprising an access road, car parking, playground and soft landscaping areas. Works commenced on the scheme in November and are due to complete in February 2011.
Attending the ceremony Managing Director Martin Sandall said “Jenner is delighted to have been commissioned to construct this exciting new primary school facility for the pupils and teachers of Sissinghurst School. We once again look forward to working with the Diocesan Board of Education and KCC, together with their design team led by Diocesan Architectural Services and have complete confidence in our ability to deliver this project within budget and to an exceptional quality”.
