The annual H&K Safety Awards, run by our external safety consultants H&K Safety Services, works to identify and praise the top performing construction companies throughout Kent.

Jenner scoops Gold, Silver and Bronze at the 2020 H&K Safety Services Annual Awards.

Date: October 2020

Exemplary standards of health and safety is the precondition by which every site within Jenner is run. Safety is uncompromisable and at the forefront of our actions, and now more so than ever as we continue to battle the ongoing threat of COVID-19 and keep everyone safe. 2020, without doubt, has been an unprecedented year with each and every member of the Jenner team stepping up and working exceptionally hard to implement enhanced safety culture and as such it is hugely rewarding to gain external recognition of this.

Judged on a range of key performance indicators and monthly inspections throughout the year by highly-trained, experienced auditors the awards are highly esteemed and a clear reflection of the excellent standards upheld on our sites and the dedication of our teams in achieving these.

This year three of our projects from the education, residential and commercial sectors gained recognition and due praise with Jenner also awarded the overall Bronze Principal Contractor of the Year accolade.

Our sites were awarded the following:

New Build (Large) – The Hill, Littlebourne – GOLD - Led by Site Manager Simon Ward

The Hill (to be known as ‘The Laurels’) is a large-scale residential development delivering 87 new dwellings in a joint venture between Leath Park Developments and Moat Housing, within the village of Littlebourne on the outskirts of Canterbury. The scale of this project, being delivered in a phased manner inherently requires careful management of numerous trades on site at any one time to ensure safety first at all times.

New Build (Large) – Urban Sports Park – SILVER - Led by Site Manager Nigel Griffiths

As one of Jenner’s most challenging builds to date the delivery of the unique, world-first multi-storey skate park and community sporting facility requires stringent safety measures to safeguard all those working to construct this engineering masterpiece. Working on a tight site in the heart of Folkestone safety has never been compromised by the project’s challenging logistics and multitude of bespoke features.

New Build (Medium) Folkestone School for Girls – SILVER - Led by Site Manager Clinton Dunn

Working amidst an occupied busy school environment the delivery of the new classroom block and resource centre was delivered in a timely, respectful and sensitive manner with safety at the forefront of every aspect of construction to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those on site and within the surrounding vicinity.

Jenner are once again incredibly proud of our overall performance and achievements at this year’s awards in what has been an exceptionally challenging year and express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the management of our health and safety processes and procedures throughout the organisation, as well as our congratulations to our industry peers for their awards. Huge praise is extended to our winning Site Managers Simon, Nigel and Clinton for their outstanding achievements. These awards strongly reiterate the residing culture that exists throughout Jenner, that challenging programmes and construction logistics, made even more so in current circumstances, will never be to the detriment of safety performance.
