Tonbridge Medical Centre

Location: Tonbridge, Kent

Client: Assura Healthcare Ltd

Value: £3.8m

Working on behalf of valued client, specialist primary care property company Assura Plc, Jenner are on site in the heart of Tonbridge town centre, in River Lawn Road, delivering a state-of-the-art new medical centre to care for patients currently served by the ageing Pembury Road and Higham Lane premises, which were limited on space and therefore the level of services the GPs could provide. The new building will be fit-for-purpose and allow Tonbridge Medical Group to better serve all patients.

Built over three storeys with undercroft parking to maximise space the centre will include consulting and treatment rooms as well as ancillary rooms and those for minor operations and procedures, that can be used by outsourced providers, as well as an onsite pharmacy. A dedicated ambulance bay will be provided and secure cycle storage will be available to benefit both staff and patients. Spacious and welcoming reception and waiting areas are designed to boost wellbeing and enhance patient care.

Fully accessible the centre will be compliant with all necessary DDA, health and safety and infection control standards, and built to achieve ‘BREEAM Excellent’ standards.

Designed with energy efficiency and long-term operational expenditure in mind, the contemporary new centre will generate much of its own energy through solar panels placed on the roof whilst other sustainable measures such as air-source heat pumps will help to reduce energy usage and ultimately reduce costs for the practice.

On completion the centre will be adept to serve over 20,000 patients in the future, dramatically boosting primary care provison for the people of Tonbridge.

Works are progressing well towards handover to our client and the new medical team who will operate the centre, later this Summer (2020).
