Working once again on behalf of the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI), work has completed to further enhance the accommodation and community provision at the Centenary village in Aylesford that provides housing, welfare support and care to over 300 members of the Armed Forces – a real lifeline for those in need who have served their Country.

Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) - Phase 2B

Location: Aylesford, Kent

Client: Royal British Legion Industries

Completed: December 2024

Value: £3.5m

Our first project on behalf of this client saw the construction of 24, one-and two-bedroom apartments presented across two blocks as the first phase of the development back in 2017.

This latest £3.5 million investment has delivered a new HMO (Home of Multiple Occupancy), which provides safe housing specifically for female veterans facing homelessness or escaping domestic violence. This will now have a life-changing impact on the women who call it home, offering them a safe space and the comprehensive care they need to rebuild their lives.

The new facility, spread across two buildings, includes 8, self-contained ‘Move On’ apartments, a welfare base for professional support staff, and an IT learning hub, providing opportunities for veterans to continue their professional development and seek out new work-from-home opportunities. There is a communal kitchen and dining space to encourage interaction between residents. The second building has delivered a community hub that features a café, IT suite, gymnasium and changing room known as the ABF Community Centre.

Back in October 2024 the project made the headlines with a ministerial visit from Alistair Carns OBE MC MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Minister for Veterans and People, when he visited the project mid-construction and announced a £1 million grant for RBLI’s continued expansion of its Centenary Village, which Jenner are delighted to subsequently be appointed to deliver. This significant investment accelerates further construction of additional housing for veterans by extending the recently completed HMO to add a further 6 self-contained apartments with another communal kitchen. The same Jenner team will continue this delivery and are currently completing the foundation work.
