A ‘fly-through’ video now gives patients an exciting first look inside the new Canterbury medical centre being delivered by Jenner on behalf of client Assura.

A sneak peek inside new medical centre

Date: June 2020

The 360 tour (click to view) allows viewers to get a sneak peek inside the new state-of-the-art location and see what facilities will be on offer once the doors open at the new centre next to Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

The Canterbury Medical Practice teams based at Cossington House and London Road will move into the new centre once construction work is completed, leaving their current cramped and outdated premises. The new building will provide space for an expanding and extended range of services in the community with 12 consulting rooms, four treatment rooms and over 10,000sqft of accommodation - all designed to meet the latest environmental standards.

Work on the new medical centre is progressing well once again despite the challenges of COVID-19 and our temporary closure.

Martin Sandall, Managing Director said: “It is extremely refreshing to work with such a proactive client who goes above and beyond to carry out community engagement by bringing their projects to life in this manner ahead of project completion. This certainly helps the local community to visualise their new facilities, which in turn develops an understanding of the work we do as contractors. The return to site has been incredibly positive with progress beyond expectation being made possible thanks to the trusted relations we have throughout our supply-chain. An enhanced safety culture and new working procedures ensures we can drive delivery with a strong momentum whilst most importantly keeping everyone safe and well”

The development, which is due to complete later this year, is one of the first new-build GP premises projects in the country to have received capital funding from NHS England’s Estates and Technology Transformation Fund (ETTF), and has been identified as a priority scheme for NHS Kent and Medway CCG for a number of years.

Sam Callow, Development Manager at Assura, said: “It’s always exciting to see what the inside of a new medical centre will look like and the 360 tour video gives you a sneak peek of the internal finishes and an opportunity for patients to visualise their journey throughout the new building. It’s been a collaborative approach with many organisations to make this project a reality and I’m glad the development is progressing well on site”.

Local charities and organisations located within 15 miles of the new medical centre will also have the chance to apply for a grant through the newly formed Assura Community Fund, which supports health-improving projects in the communities. More information is available at www.assuraplc.com/acf

Emma Ray, Executive Manager at Canterbury Medical Practice said, “We’re excited to share the internal images showing what our new surgery will look like. Although we have a fondness for the beautiful surgery buildings at Cossington House and London Road, our new premises will make such a difference to our patients’ experiences. We’re looking at how we can use the space to its maximum potential and working with local stakeholders and other healthcare providers to make sure we can provide the excellent care in a first class setting that our patients deserve.”
