With the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic continuing to dramatically affect us all, we write to keep all our valued clients, consultants, sub-contractors and supply-chain partners informed of our current thinking and future intentions.

COVID-19 Jenner Group Policy – Stakeholder Communication No.5

Date: April 2020

In our previous communication statements we voiced an anticipated, or indeed hopeful, return to construction activity this week (w/c 14th April), subject to ongoing government guidance, and as such remain closed at this time in adherence with continued lock-down measures.

The Directors of Jenner remain steadfast in our ‘duty of care’ decision-making to pre-emptively cease construction activity on 25th March 2020, knowing this was essential to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our people and hope that in doing so we have played our part in reducing further spread of infection.

However, alongside our moral obligations and responsibility to safeguard all those within our care, we simply cannot ignore the ongoing message driven by central government urging construction activity to continue. The recent letter from Alok Sharma issued to Contractors throughout the industry, reminds us in no uncertain terms how critical construction is to the wider economy and the fundamental importance of building for the future. It is therefore imperative that we work with this advice firmly in mind to find a way to safely return to construction.

Over the past 3 weeks, since our temporary closure, the team at Jenner have utilised their time to ensure we have all necessary policies, procedures and guidelines firmly in place to facilitate a safe return to operation in the coming weeks. All our sites are currently being assessed in terms of safety implications, supply-chain availability and social priority and we anticipate a phased return to activity following adoption of the essential guidance from the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) and our own professional safety advisors recommendations. New working procedures will be enforced throughout all our sub-contract and supply chain partnerships with a zero-tolerance approach to non-conformance.

Further guidance is expected from government and the CLC later this week which we will monitor closely and will utilise this information and advice to shape our actions further. Once we have greater clarity we will communicate our intentions with you all once again.

In the meantime our sites are being regularly monitored to ensure they remain safe and secure and present no risk to the public and communities we serve, and remain contactable in the usual manner if you have any ongoing questions or concerns you would like to discuss further.

The Directors assure you we are doing everything within our power to keep everyone safe and well whilst futureproofing the Jenner business and thank you all once again for your ongoing understanding and support throughout these challenging times.

Please do continue to stay safe and well.
